Guide to Efficient Use of Air Purifier

  1. Ventilating

  2. Ventilating introduces outdoor air into indoor space, and controls indoor air quality by diluting and displacing indoor pollutants. Ventilate indoor space three times a day for thirty minutes at a time. (Ventilation is most efficient during 9 AM and 8 PM.)

  3. Regular cleaning

  4. Regularly clean and wash to maintain low dust concentration in the living room and bedroom. Electronic devices (e.g. television, computer) can be sources of particulate matter and indoor air pollution.

  5. Maintaining indoor humidity

  6. Drying, ventilating, and controlling indoor humidity are essential to suppress the formation of mold and dust mites in the home. The most suitable household environment is 18–22°C with 40-50% humidity. You can suppress the reproduction rate of dust mites by controlling indoor humidity levels to less than 60%.

  7. Removing odorous pollutants

  8. Particulate matter and bodily harmful gases are produced when cooking. Make sure to turn on the ventilator and ventilate the area. It is good practice to dispose food waste as soon as possible because it causes odors and harmful gases due to decomposition when stored for a long time.

  9. Operating the air purifier

  10. After completing the four aforementioned steps, operate the air purifier to maintain a pleasant environment for 24 hours. The air purifier ventilates and directly eliminates odors and pollutants to be used as an assisting device for removing residual odor and particulate matter.

  11. The guide to efficient use of the air purifier was made by referring to the Ministry of Environment’s Manual on Indoor Household Air Quality Management.

  12. Turn on the air purifier after you’ve completed the first four steps for longer lasting filters.

STEP 1

Connecting to the app

Prepare the connection

  • Turn on the air purifier, smart phone, and Wi-Fi router.

  • A stable Wi-Fi connection is required. Connect where the signal is strong or near the Wi-Fi router.

  • Use a compatible smartphone to scan the QR code to download the KAKAO FRIENDS HOME app.

Log in

  1. Open the KAKAO FRIENDS HOME app and select "Start with KakaoTalk."

STEP 2

Assemble the product

*Upon unboxing, you will find the filter wrapped in a plastic. Be sure to remove the wrap and insert the filter to the air purifier.

  1. Open the flower cover.

  2. Take out the filter from the wrap hold the handles on both sides of the filter, and assemble the product according to the instructions written on the transparent film.

  3. Remove the film attached on the front, and place the flower cover back on top. Connect the supplied adaptor.

  4. Press the Wi-Fi/reset button for about 5 seconds. (Wi-Fi status indicator should blink.)

STEP 3

Connect to the app

  1. Tap on [Connect to device] on the KAKAO FRIENDS HOME app.

  2. Connect to Wi-Fi following the instructions.

  3. Wi-Fi status indicator should turn white when connected to Wi-Fi.

  4. When you're all done, place the air purifier properly at a desired location, and press the mode selection button.

Using the device without app connection

*Upon unboxing, your will find the filter wrapped in a plastic. Be sure to remove the wrap and insert the filter to the air purifier.

Prepare the connection

  1. Open the flower cover.

  2. Take out the filter from the wrap and remove the label attached. Hold the handles on both sides of the filter, and assemble the product according to the instructions printed on the label.

  3. Place the flower cover back on top, and connect the supplied adaptor.

  4. Press the mode selection button.

How to operate

  1. The air purifier remains in an off state when connecting the power for the first time.

  2. Press the mode selection button for about 0.5 seconds to turn on the air purifier.

  3. In Mode 1, one LED light is turned on. It means the fan is in low speed and purifies the air in Lullaby mode.
    In Mode 2, two LED lights are turned on. It means the fan is in medium speed and purifies the air in Dustfree mode.
    In Mode 3, three LED lights are turned on. It means the fan is in strong speed and purifies the air in Pure mode.

  4. Press the mode selection button for about 2 seconds to turn off the air purifier.

  5. When you restart the air purifier again, it is operated in the latest mode.

FAQ

  • The device smells strange.

    - In the early stage of use, the new filter may produce strange odor. Feel safe to use the device, as the smell will disappear after some time.
    - If you operate the device in a place with bad odor or a lot of dust, it may produce bad odor.
    - If you place the device too close when cooking meat or fish in the kitchen, it may shorten the life span of the device as the oil gets into the filter.
    - If you place the device too close when cooking with oil, the oil may contaminate the filter, producing bad odor. Please use the device in places other than kitchen, and ventilate the area frequently.

  • It does not purify the air well.

    - When you are in a place where it is severely contaminated, please ventilate the place while operating the device.
    - It is recommended to use the device in a place less than 1 to 2 pyeong (3 - 6.6 m2).
    - Please check the intended installation places and surface area the device is designed for.
    - If the device is covered with dust for a long period of time, it may cause malfunction. Please clean the device frequently with a dry cloth.
    - Make sure to replace the filter when necessary.

  • The air purifier doesn’t turn on

    - Please check if the AC/DC adaptor is correctly connected.
    - Please check if the air purifier fan is properly installed.

  • Wi-Fi connection doesn’t work

    - Please check if the Wi-Fi router (AP mode) is operating normally.
    - Try pressing the Wi-Fi/reset button at the bottom of the air purifier for about 5 seconds to reconnect to Wi-Fi.

  • I cannot connect the air purifier to the KAKAO FRIENDS HOME app.

    - Place the device and the smartphone less than 1 meter apart from each other for Bluetooth connection.

  • I can’t update the firmware

    - Check the Wi-Fi connection.

  • The device smells strange

    - Please check if the filter has been replaced within the recommended period.
    - Please check if the air purifier has been operating while the inlet is blocked.

Replacing the filter

  • The filter replacement period may vary depending on the operating environment.

  • The filter is non-reusable. Do not wash the filter.

  • If you smell a strong odor from the device, please check the filter.

  • The filter’s life span depends on the level of contamination in the air.

  • Although the filter replacement notification is not shown, you may change the filter in case of strong odor, or if the fan speed becomes too weak.

  • The recommended period for using the filter is approximately three months (2,169 hours).

  • The app will inform you when the filter reaches its filter replacement period.

  • Filter replacements are available in stores or via customer service.

  • Disconnect the power of the AC/DC adaptor when replacing the filter.

  • Open the flower cover of the air purifier, hold both handles of the filter to separate the filter from the device.

  • Remove the plastic wrap from the filter, and insert the filter into the device, following the instructions written on the upper side of the filter.

  • Place the flower cover back on top.

  • Turn on the air purifier.

Safety Instructions

    Power

  • Do not use multiple power plugs in one power outlet.

  • Do not insert the cord or touch the power plug with wet hands.

  • Do not insert the power plug in a loose power outlet.

  • Disconnect the power plug when the device is not used for a long period.

  • Do not pull the cord to disconnect it from the power outlet.

  • Do not bend the cord excessively or damage it by placing a heavy object.

  • Installation

  • Do not place flammable objects (sprays, petrol, gas, etc.) near the device.

  • Do not install the device under a power outlet.

  • Do not place near a heating appliance.

  • Do not use near electronic products such as TV, radio, and microwave oven.

  • Do not use under direct sunlight, lighting equipment using an inverter, or automatic detection sensors.

  • Do not use the device where flammable gas is leaking or has possibility to leak.

  • Do not install the device directly against wind.

  • Install the device in an indoor space with no direct sunlight.

  • Place the device at least 10 cm away from nearby objects.

  • Do not hold the device upside down to prevent the fan from falling.

  • Cleaning

  • When cleaning the device, unplug the power plug, and cool the device down beforehand.

  • If the device produces strange noise, odor or smoke, unplug the power plug and call the customer service center.

  • Do not use flammable sprays or liquid detergents.

  • Do not spray water directly on to the device.

  • Do not let a child clean or control the device without supervision.

  • When cleaning the device, unplug the power plug and wait until the fan stops.

  • To clean the device, use a clean dry cloth.

  • Usage

  • Use the provided standard power adaptor (24V/1A) only.

  • Do not disassemble, remodel or repair the device at your discretion.

  • Do not remove the fan during operation.

  • Do not cause shock to the device.

  • Do not unplug the power plug or move the device during operation.

  • Be careful to prevent moisture from getting into the device.

  • Do not touch the inner part of the device with wet hands.

  • Do not hold the device upside down to prevent the fan from falling.

  • Do not add aromatic products or use products that are hazardous to plastics or silicones.

  • Do not operate the device with a carpet or a cushion placed on areas where it can block the air intake.
